Plan Your Route

The Foxen Canyon Wine Trail connects Santa Maria Valley and Los Olivos, a journey that gets you out of the city and into the country. There are meandering roads and breathtaking views with tucked-away vineyards all along the 30 mile road. It’s the perfect way to taste wine from the oldest appellation in Santa Barbara County.

Region & Varietals

The notably balanced grapes that grow here combined with the casual environment demonstrates how Santa Maria Valley values real experiences with real people. Rhône varietals dominate the southern end of the Trail; full-bodied Syrah, Grenache and Viognier thrive in the warmer, inland climate. The Pacific Ocean’s breezes cool the northern end, creating an ideal environment for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Many other varietals such as Sauvignon Blanc, Negrette, Sylvaner, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc can also be found on their wine tasting lists.
