Cottonwood Canyon Vineyard & Winery

A small boutique winery specializing in hand-crafted wines.

Cottonwood Canyon Vineyard and Winery specializes in hand-crafted Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah. The winery is located in Santa Maria Valley on the northern edge of the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail in Santa Barbara wine country. In addition, there is also event space available for meetings, conventions, weddings and receptions.

Founded in 1988, the Cottonwood Canyon Vineyard and Winery is one of California’s original vineyards located only 19 miles from the Pacific Ocean. When the Bekos founded the vineyard and winery, they focused on blending Burgundian style winemaking with true American ingenuity and the Santa Maria Valley cool climate to produce memorable wines. With 78 acres of vines and approximately 900 oak, cottonwood, plum and cherry trees with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah grapevines, Cottonwood Canyon Vineyard continues to be managed completely by hand which has been proven to be highly influential on their fruit.

A self-taught winemaker, Norman Beko’s love for winemaking began at a young age and was influenced by three great winemakers. His mentors were Ken Volk from the Wildhorse Winery, Sanford Winery’s Bruno de Fonso and Mitch Consentino from the Consentino Winery. Although distribution is costly for a boutique winery, Beko’s love for the trade and the winery’s loyal customer is what helps his passion for winemaking grow. If he were to pick either red or white wine, he’d pick both because the Santa Maria Valley’s cool-climate creates the perfect age-worthy wine and high sugar levels in which both styles maintain their naturally high acidity! His dedication to keeping the winemaking process natural with no extra chemicals and cold fermentation over a long period of time continues to give Cottonwood Vineyard and Winery a special touch to their wines.
