North Beach is another section of Pismo State Beach. Here, Pismo Creek runs into the ocean, which often causes small pools to form. This beach is near to the Monarch Butterfly Grove in Pismo Beach. If you’re visiting Pismo Beach October through February, don’s miss the opportunity to see thousands of monarch butterflies in the grove before you hit the beach.
Elmer Ross Beach
Elmer Ross Beach is a small, beautiful beach that sits below large cliffs. Because of the cliffs and surrounding rocks, this beach is less wavy that others. Elmer Ross Beach is also a great place to explore tide pools during low tide.
Coastal Access Trail at Pismo Beach
Coastal Access Trail at Pismo Beach is an easy, 4.8-mile out and back trail, also located at Pismo State Beach. This trail is aptly named, as it takes hikers into Pismo Beach. The trail offers views of the ocean and of coastal vegetation. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
Sand Highway Trail
Sand Highway is a moderate, 10-mile out and back trail located near Nipomo, California that offers scenic views. The trail is primarily used for off-road driving and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
