Santa Maria Christmas Parade of Lights
A holiday tradition continues as the 23rd Annual Santa Maria Christmas Parade of Lights launches on the corner of Broadway Street and Stowell Road at 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, December 2. Parade entries are extremely creative and spectators are always wowed. This year, more than one hundred entries will work to reflect the event’s focus, which is to collect canned goods for the Salvation Army. Last year, approximately three tons of goods were donated. Besides the event’s altruistic rewards, float entries are honored with first place ($350) and second place ($150) prizes in seven different categories. The parade wraps up at the Santa Maria Town Center Mall where local Rotary groups sponsor a Winter Wonderland snow play area for children.
The Rotary Clubs of Santa Maria & Nipomo, Santa Maria Times and KCOY invite your participation in the Christmas Parade of Lights. The parade is a lovely event focused on the holidays and spirit of giving.
Be sure to wear warm clothing (and maybe a blanket) since it is in the evening and the temperatures can drop once it is dark. You will also want to arrive early to find a good parking spot and viewing spot. Don’t forget your folding chairs and cameras.
Come sing along with the many floats and bands participating in this parade!
Held on Broadway from Stowell Road to Main Street. Parade will begin at 5:20 p.m.
