Bird and Nature Walk at Oso Flaco Lake with John Deacon
Join the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center and Docent John Deacon on September 16th at 8:00am for a fascinating bird hike through Oso Flaco Lake, the dunes and out to the ocean (about 3 miles round trip).
Early fall is a great time to observe birds at Oso Flaco. Spring and Fall migrants are all possibilities. We’ll likely see Terns on their way back to winter in South America and Sandpipers on their way back to the southern hemisphere. Least Terns, Caspian Terns, Marbled Godwits, Soras Virginia Rails and American Bittern are just a few of our target species An added benefit might be early Gray Whale migration back to southern Pacific Ocean breeding grounds. There are lots of possibilities.
