Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center: Holiday Hike to Point Sal Trailhead

Join the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center on December 19, as Dunes Center Community Hike Leader, Ray Segovia leads a hike to the ridge overlooking Point Sal. Beautiful wildlife, flora, and stunning views of the northern Santa Barbara coastline await those that attend. This will be a dog-friendly hike, please feel free to bring along your furry friend. Please be aware there are no restroom facilities at this location. This is an excellent opportunity to capture amazing photos of California’s Central Coast.

The hike will start promptly at 9 AM and will last approx. three to four hours, depending on the pace of the group.

A $5 donation to the Dunes center is encouraged to help with our 2022 Education Programs.

Arrive with all necessary equipment to keep you safe on the trail, including water, proper attire, footwear, hand sanitizer, etc. Bring and make use of recommended facial coverings, when social distancing is not possible.

Maintain proper physical distancing, a minimum of 6 feet, between yourself and all other members of the group at all times.

Hike Intensity:

The Point Sal trail is moderately strenuous in intensity with an elevation gain of approximately 700 feet from the beginning of the trail head to the highest point on the ridge. The trail we are walking is approximately 6 miles round trip to the ridge and back to the parking area. There is an option to hike down to the beach from the ridge for those who would like to participate in a longer hike.
