Santa Maria Civic Theatre will be presenting “August: Osage County” by Tracy Letts as the opening show for its 61st season. The 2008 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner – a vanished father; a pill-popping, scathingly acidic mother, and three sisters harboring shady little secrets. When the large Weston family unexpectedly reunites after Dad disappears, their Oklahoma family homestead explodes in a maelstrom of repressed truths and unsettling secrets.

Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center: National Wildlife Refuge Hike to Lunar Craters

Join the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center on a 4 – 5 mile hike in to the back dunes of the wildlife refuge to Lunar Craters, a large active sand sheet characterized by 50′- 60′ deep slip faces and sand craters. The meeting location will take place before the entrance gate to Oso Flaco Lake, on the left hand side.
