Established in September 1955, the purpose of the Santa Maria Valley Historical Society is to provide a center for collection, conservation, interpretation, and research concerned with the history of the people of the Santa Maria Valley, while making this knowledge and interpretation available to the community by the Santa Maria Valley Historical Museum. There are over 12,000 photos and 8,000 obituaries digitally preserved to help members and visitors with local research and genealogy.
