The Santa Maria Valley Historical Society and Museum is dusting off its shelves in honor of exciting renovations made possible through a Community Development Block Grant.

In addition to the museum’s general remodeling and floor replacement, a wall of historic photos displayed on six-inch by eight-inch hardboard tiles is also a key element of the design. In an effort to raise funds for more projects, the museum is inviting one and all to sponsor a photo tile and have their family name printed on it.

Contributors are welcome to share their own historic photos that relate to the region or to use one of the museum’s 16,000 photos in its archives. Donations will support the museum’s ongoing efforts to present, preserve and protect the history of Santa Maria Valley. Call Cindy Ransick for information: (805) 478-0723

The museum is closed all of January while the work is ongoing, however, its books and calendars are currently for sale at the Historic Santa Maria Inn. The museum is slated to reopen in February.
