In 1923, Guadalupe became the home to the biggest set ever built for the most expensive movie ever made. Cecil B. DeMille brought ancient Egypt to the west coast when he constructed the set for his silent epic, The Ten Commandments. When filming concluded, our local ever-changing dunes covered DeMille’s set.

After learning about the “Lost City”, film buff Peter Brosnan was determined to find and unearth DeMille’s massive set and document the process.

On Saturday November 4th the Dunes Center is hosting a special screening of Brosnan’s new documentary The Lost City of Cecil B. DeMille at the Far Western Tavern in Orcutt. Tickets to this memorable celebration benefit the Dunes Center and include a buffet-dinner by the Far Western as well as an opportunity to meet Peter Brosnan himself and gain a unique look at his decades-long quest to unearth a unique piece of history.
