Free Family Cowboy Poetry Event at the Santa Maria Public Library

Dust off that cowboy garb and head to the Santa Maria Public Library for a rousing good
time at the second annual Cowboy Poetry Event on Saturday, May 20th from 2:00 to 4:00
p.m. in Shepard Hall. Refreshments will be served and the event is free.

Cowboy poet Bob Perrault will be joining the event for the first time, and real-life cowboy,
author, and poet Dick Gibford returns to share plenty of original and traditional cowboy
poems. Western music will be provided by Patsy Cline tribute artist Karen Sweeney.
Capping off the fun will be the presentation of awards for the annual Kids Cowboy Poetry
contest, where winners and participants will be recognized for their creative entries.

This program is generously sponsored by the Santa Maria Public Library Foundation,
Altrusa International Foundation of Santa Maria, and the Santa Maria Elks Rodeo.
The main Library’s hours are 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays, and
10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays. The Library is closed on Sundays.
Questions may be directed to Dawn Jackson, Library Youth Services, 925-0994 extension
