Enjoy dog-friendly wine tasting and other activities with your furry friend by your side.
We know as well as you do that many things are more fun with a dog by your side. When you bring your pup to Santa Maria Valley, you can enjoy dog-friendly wine tasting and other activities without leaving your dog behind. Explore hiking trails, hit the dunes or the beach, taste wine and so much more. That’s why several of our hoteliers, wineries and restaurants offer canine-friendly options.
The Santa Maria Valley is known for delicious Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah that will make your tongue wag. There are many wineries that you and your dog can experience together. After all, it’s not a trip to Santa Maria Valley without dog-friendly wine-tasting adventures with your four-legged friend! Riverbench Vineyard & Winery, Foxen Vineyard & Winery and Presqu’ile Winery are all dog-friendly, with plenty of grassy places for pups to play and rest. Sit back and enjoy a nice glass of your favorite varietal while you and your pup make these special memories together.
The dog-friendly things to do in Santa Maria Valley don’t stop at wine tasting. Because of the temperate climate here, you can spend time outside with your dog nearly year-round. There are 24 hiking trails and 15 beaches within a 30-minute drive of Santa Maria Valley, many of which are dog-friendly. You and your canine can explore Pismo State Beach, the Point Sal State Beach Trail, Fisherman’s Beach, the Oceano Dunes and more. Be sure to check out what restrictions and rules each beach has when it comes to four-legged friends, as some require leashes or have other restrictions. There are also many dog-friendly parks in the area. Just be sure to clean up after your pup and keep them leashed unless otherwise specified.
The Luffa Farm in Nipomo, which sells organic soaps and naturally-grown luffa sponges, welcomes dogs to take a tour of the farm with their owners. This is a local favorite and hidden gem, making it a perfect dog-friendly thing to do while you’re in town. You and your
pup can also learn a bit of Central Coast history at La Purisima Mission, one of the oldest missions in California.
