Oceano sits just 18 miles from Santa Maria and offers fantastic opportunities for off-roading on the famed Oceano Dunes. The Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area (SVRA) is part of a geographically unique dunes complex that creates a perfect location for off-highway enthusiasts, attracting riders from throughout the United States. 

With more than 5 miles of beach open for vehicle use and the sand dunes available for off-highway motor vehicle recreation, this is a must-experience for off-road enthusiasts. 

In addition to off-roading at the Oceano Dunes, surfing, swimming, surf fishing, horseback riding, and bird watching are popular activities for Oceano visitors. The South Park Entrance is located at the end of Pier Avenue in Oceano, CA, while the North Park Entrance is located at the end of Grand Avenue in Grover Beach, CA.

For the best off-roading adventures in the Oceano Dunes park, visitors to the area can rent ATVs at Steve’s ATV Rentals in Pismo Beach. Steve’s ATV’s rents a variety of OHVs, including four-wheelers and RZRs, and Steve’s always has specials so you can save some coin on your rentals.

If OHV riding isn’t your style, check out the Oso Flaco Lake Natural Area, home to a mile-long walking trail to the beach and an abundance of native flora and fauna. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker, a nature-lover or both, the Ocean Dunes SVRA has something for everyone.
