Martian Ranch & Vineyard is a young, biodynamically-farmed vineyard on Alisos Canyon Road in Los Alamos where they take farming much more seriously than they do themselves. When Nan Helgeland founded the Martian Ranch & Vineyard in 2007, she wanted to give it a name that was memorable yet oddly traditional. It was named after her sons Martin and Ian. Martian Ranch is farmed biodynamically with the idea to create a self-sustaining system. They do not use any chemical fertilizers or pesticides. The only fertilizers that are used are a range of animals. The animals help create a fertile environment, ideal for growing superb fruit. At Martian Ranch & Vineyard, guests can enjoy a guided Biodynamics Tour where they will get the chance to meet their Irish Dexter Cows, Boer Goats and horses, all of which all help maintain the vineyard. Visitors learn more about how they contribute to biodiversity and how that impacts their wine. If you enjoy wine tasting and touring, then the Vineyard Tour should be your top choice. Tour the vineyard and enjoy a private tasting. Bring a lunch or snack to enjoy in the courtyard as you soak in the California Sun. Varietals Grown include: Albarino, Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Gamay Noir, Grenache Noir, Mourvedre, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Tempranillo
