Kenneth Volk Vineyards

A true winemaker since birth.

Kenneth Volk’s earliest memories trace back to the harvest in the vineyards and wineries. A third-generation Californian, Kenneth pursued a degree in Fruit Science from California Polytechnic University. During his time as a student he made his first wine with a trash can and a baseball bat, and he hasn’t stopped since.

Kenneth’s heart was always set on the Central Coast and he was confident this region could create recognizable wines. In the early 1980s and along with his family, Kenneth established the Wild Horse Vineyard and Winery, which he sold in 2003. But, in 2004 Kenneth purchased Byron Winery and renamed it Kenneth Volk Vineyards.

Today, Kenneth is the director of winemaking and David Romag is the winemaker at Kenneth Volk Vineyards. Together, they believe interesting wines are achieved through comprehensive planning. They use progressive techniques to minimize the handling of the fruit to build on the complexity of flavors produced at the vineyard.

Located in the northeastern portion of the Santa Maria Valley AVA, the Kenneth Volk Vineyard continues to craft world-class wines centered around Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
